The End

03/03/07.
The day that marked The End.
The End of many things.
The End of NTU Chinese Orchestra’s Annual Concert 2007.
The End of seemingly nights of camping at Nanyang House for practices.
The End of my role as a 声部长 of the 阮 section, which I held for 2 years odd.
The End of my life as a member of NTU Chinese Orchestra.

It was also the day that marked quite a few firsts
The First Time I performed as a percussionist
The First Time I laughed so hard DURING the performance
The First Time I almost dozed off during the 2nd half of the performance :P

Some of my friends always ask me “Is it worth it to spend so much time on your CCA?” or “How the hell do you balance your studies, your CCA and your FYP?”
Well, I managed.
Somehow.

Probably by sacrificing sleep, time with family and a bit of grades :P
Looking back, I would call it a bitter sweet victory.
From the day I entered as an ordinary member who cannot even play the basic notes well in Year 1, 2003, to the day I became the sectional leader of the Plucked String Section, which progressed to me becoming the ticketing officer for 2004, to the day I performed with the Orchestra in China Beijing without any prior rehearsal (Thankfully, I played OK! :P ) and finally, my role as the声部长 of the 阮 section. Whatever way you choose to see it, I would still call it a slow and steady progression.

In the orchestra, I had many names. SL (Sectional Leader), Ex SL, Ex Ex SL (which became distorted to XL and XXL, which became serious misnomers as I was and still am constantly losing weight from stress. Haha!), 暴力青年,大声牌中阮,好姨,SIAO EHY (In Hokkien), Uncle, Evil Twin, Brother, Gan Kor Kor, MOFF, Buddy, Baby, 儿子, Nellers etc, etc etc. Most of them slightly derogatory at the same time yet so endearing. Every one brings back certain memories, certain places and even certain people. It is also these names, these friendships and this level of silliness that made the long hours of practices so much more endurable and worthwhile! Thank you all for these crazy memories. Thank you all who contributed to the naming of this silly cow. =)

Am definitely looking forward to the day that will mark

The Beginning of a new chapter in my life – Work
The Beginning and setting up of the NTU Chinese Orchestra ALUMNI!(This is for u Lao EHY!)
The Beginning of many new and exciting things (Hopefully!)

*Ring!*
*Curtain Call*
*Bows & Exits*

Moo

Mood – Bitter Sweet
Music – Take That – How Deep Is Your Love

PS: Thank you ALL who came to support me all these years!!!!! =)
